artist statement- Diane

The beginning of “what makes you who you are” was an open call to propose a fine art idea to myself. At that time my work was focused on a thought that suddenly emerged from my head, and ended up on a pencil and a piece of white paper.

In realist art, I consider each painting to be a window that opens a view into everyday life. I pursue visual truth with complete dedication, capturing beauty and reality with meticulous precision. Through my works, I strive to strengthen the appreciation of the magic hidden in everyday details, creating visual narratives that evoke presence and beauty in the mind.

I create art as a form of expression that deepens understanding of the complexity of humans, animals, plants and nature. My works reflect an explorative journey of the mind, combining abstract elements with reality, and inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty hidden in uncertainty.

There is always another version of our judgment that depends on our point of view, and another version of ourselves that depends on our environment. This version is influenced by family, society, gender, religion and socio-economic background. And those are just a few factors, who we are can change depending on where we are and who we are with.

In doing my work, I am more interested in asking questions than giving answers. I love bringing something turbulent and provocative to the audience, planting a seed that resonates with their own experiences, then grows and develops into a new outlook for themselves.

In this work, there is not one character or one whole story. Instead, you are invited to witness a different side of the same people and stories. Or perhaps, you are looking at yourself in the mirror. Through my art, I aspire to evoke emotion, trigger introspection, and foster a connection between the viewer and the complex layers of existence.

thank you so much.
